VGN / Intel 3945ABG wireless limited connectivity

VGN-AR31M / Belkin F5D7632-4 Router
Vista Home Premium / Norton 360
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (10.6.0.29)

Just wondering if anyone has a similar problem, or any ideas as to how I may resolve this intermitent connectivity.

Had the VGN for a while now, all working fine with the Belkin until about a month ago. The Wireless connectivity now seems to be fine for a short time - showing [Access: Local and Internet], but then sporadically changes to [Access: Limited connectivity]. The time between working fine and local only varies from about a minute to half an hour. It does not reconnect to the internet on its own, but if you disconnect>reconnect it works fine for a while again.

No settings have been changed at all on the router or by me on the VGN-AR31M. I've been through all the usual power cycling of the router and laptop, Windows network diagnostics etc. Signal strength is always good, I've got another Vaio/XP and an HP/XP laptop that continue to work fine.

I've read a lot about Vista flakiness generally, but I'm guessing due to the suddenness of the issue it may have been related to a Windows update. Without going through the usual uninstallation of tens of updates only to find it wasn't any of them, has anyone got any suggestions?

You don't seem to be getting many offers of help!!

Have you downloaded the latest Intel® PRO/Wireless Driver?

Intel® PRO/Wireless Drivers-Only for Windows Vista* [V11.1.1.0_VT_DRIVERS.ZIP]

Have you tried everything in this knowledgebase article: -

Also try these Performance and Reliability Updates

We're currently holidng firm with 11.1.1.11/9.1.1.15 - it's been several hours with no interrupt...

How frustrating that these things work for months on end and then suddenly stop working for no apparent reason!

Many thanks for the assistance Blencogo - much appreciated

Vista is very dodgy with DHCP settings which show up as you are connected to network but have local only access. type ipconfig at a command prompt and you will see blank dhcp settings. if you own the router then you can assign a static ip address to get aroudn this. if its a wireless hotspot then you are screwed. sp1 is released early next year and will no doubt fix this issue. otherwise you can also try the latest firmware for your router but and latest drivers for your network but don't hold you breath that this will fix it.
