Dear All
I have a Sony VGN-TZ31WN and whenever I plug in a USB devie it tells me that it is running slow and it could run faster (using USB 1.1 and not 2.0).
I have checked and there are no updates for the Bios or chipset, and there is no setting in the BIOS to activate USB 2.0
I really want to run USB devices at 2.0 speed, has anyone got a fix for this.
My Sony was downgraded to XP Pro, it has SP3 but as it was downgraded I cannot run the Vaio update tool .
Thanks
Hello hoops7074,
Your VAIO's hardware does support USB 2.0 including Hi-Speed mode.
XP (SP0) does not natively support USB 2.0. When you install SP1 which adds Hi-Speed USB support, this doesn't pro-actively update already installed USB drivers with the new drivers that are included with the service pack.
You should be able to fix this by using the [Update Driver] function in the device manager.
Hi Stepanius
I will try this and let you know.
Many Thanks
