VGNFZ11L startup fail even after fresh Windows Install

Hi all,

My VAIO recently started showing partial coloured lines across the screen whilst Windows was running then after a few days, it started craching too.  Often on restart even the Vaio image and "loading windows" screens (first things you see on startup) showed thes funny coloured lines.  Windows would suggest it should repair itself and tried but failed several times and it reached a point where it wouldnt boot at all.

So, I re-installed Vista Ultimate from scratch with a disk format but it is still showing the same problems.  In fact since succesfully installing from CD it has only re-started successfully once and mostly tries to repair itself (and fails) or gets to "Loading Windows" and just gives up and power cycles.

Any ideas out there?  I am assuming I have eliminated Windows as the cause but what could it be?  Hardware?

Ideas welcome.

Thanks!
