Webcam will not work on new SONY F series

I have just bought Sony VPCF13M1E with Windows 7.

The webcam will not work (Click Start, All Programs, ArcSoft WebCam Companion 3, and WebCam Companion 3) – message says it cannot find camera or it is in use by another program :smileyconfused:.

I saw some Forum messages about disabling anti-virus or spyware programs?

I have already  uninstalled both McAfee and Norton (and replaced with Spybot and Avira).

The shop where I purchased the pc have no idea what the problem is :smileyangry:.

I would love some advice please.

Have a look in your startup programs in MSCONFIG and see if something is using the camera.  You can also look in Task Scheduler to see what your Vaio is opening automatically.

Do you have Skype installed?  If so look in Tools -> Options -> Video Settings.  Make sure your camera is set in the drop down box- NOT a bluetooth device.

As with your bluetooth it is down to the Retailer to ensure your purchase works properly or they should replace it.  However, it may be worth reinstalling the Vaio back to factory Settings to see if something you have installed is causing a driver conflict.
