Dear All,

What if I couldn't buy my viao on June 26th 2009 and January 31st 2010 ?? I have FW31ZJ and I know it is pk with windows 7.? Isn't it possible to buy a Sony's Windows 7 upgrade kit??.. What a nonsense situation is this.? Any ideas???

Hi CruC,

If you did not purchase your Vaio within the qualifying period then unfortunately you will not be able to claim the Windows 7 upgrade kit this is due to Microsoft's licensing rules..

You could however purchase a retail copy of Windows 7 and upgrade from your current OS..

First of all, thanks for answering me.Then the question is if I go and buy retail version from Microsoft then what happened my viao recovey partition.. I guess I gonna lose it Am I right?

No - As long as you do not remove the recovery partition during the install process the recovery partition should remain intact. To be on the safe side you should create a couple sets of recovery disc's

If you run a clean install of Windows 7 beware that you will loose the pre-installed applications that Sony supplied with your Vaio, however if you upgrade to Windows 7 then you should still be able to use the pre-installed applications etc.
