Hi All
My laptop is a Sony VGN-AR51M running Vista and MS Office 2007.
While surfing info in last 24hrs I got what may be a spoof warning about virus infection. I ran a virus scan nothing detected.
Recently changed virus protection to Microsoft Security Essentials (foc) when Bullguard expired.
Days later I noticed Windows Defender turned off.
When trying to turn it on the following error message is displayed "0x800705b4.
Is this something I need to fix or not?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated
My computer an VPCZ13V9E-X has the same problem and i think this is very stranges. A window appear when i turn my computer on, and it says that Windows Defender is turn of. I can clic at a button to turn it on, - but nothing happens.
I have also tried to remove Windows Defender, but i can't do that becourse it sems to be a part of the windows XP Pro installation.
Is there anyone which can help us solving this problems?
best regards
bojskov

Hi garsymon,
welcome to Questions & Answers..:smileyhappy:
During the installing of some, if not most AV application, including Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender is deactivated to prevent conflicts..
Hello thalamus.
Thanks for your helpfulness.
Unfortunately I do not think it s problem because I have already tried deleting the Microsoft Essential. Of course I have also edited the registry.
