Hi folks,
Wondering if someone out there might be able to lend a hand...
I have a Vaio Z series (VGN-Z21WN) which I bought second hand. The notebook still has numerous files, folders, programs and customisations from the previous owner, and I would like to restore the computer back to factory default.
The notebook is currently running Windows 7 Ultimate, which the previous owner upgraded to from Windows Vista using Sony Vaio upgrade disk. (A special offer at the time).
Unforunately, the previous owner did not send me the Windows 7 upgrade disk, and he never made a Windows Vista recovery disk.
Is there a way that I can either restore the current Windows 7 back to default? Alternatively, could I recover the original Windows Vista from the recovery partition?
Vaio support have given me conflicting information so far, and have been little help. They claimed that the Windows 7 is counterfeit (it isn't), and that the recovery partition has been deleted (Previous owner claims not).
As Windows 7 does not have the recovery centre included, unlike Vista and XP did, I am a little stuck...
Hi
If you have the Vaio Care utility, you can create a recovery disc (using two dvd or a single double layer dvd).
Otherwise, you should take note of the serial number of the current Win7 installation, download it and use that serial for installation. This should be legal, because when you buy a Microsoft product you're buying the license to use it
