Wireless networking with XP & Win2000

I'm having problems networking my Vaio VGC-V2S running XP Home and Vaio laptop running Win 2000Pro. Using a wireless G Router and can access the internet from both PC's but cannot access shared resources on either. File & Printer sharing is turned on both PC's.
Microsoft mentions a problem with the Router Firewall not opening the correct ports but I don't know which ones!
Can anyone enlighten me on this problem

Small question - BIG reply and dependant on your knowledge of networking. Are you using SP2? You need to provide more info on the software levels as this has a huge impact as well as domain names etc. Sorry bu this is a large topic that needs a lot more info ...

Yes, i'm using SP2, I have a computer name for each PC and both are a member of the same workgroup. Neither PC's are members of a Domain. My Laptop is using SP4 under Win 2000 Pro. If you need any more info please let me know.
I did have my old PC networked to my laptop in the past when running Win98 but then upgraded to XP and lost the network:smileycry:

I have no idea at the moment. But there is feature in my Router, which can block the communication between connected WLAN cards. If I use the Router as DHCP-Server. Maybe this feature on your Router is active.
