Brand new WH-1000XM2 not charging

Hello,

 

I just received my brand new WH-1000XM2s, and they seem to not be charging at all. The red light that goes on when you plug them in only shows up for a minute or so, and then vanishes. Is that supposed to happen?

To note is that I am using the provided cables and nothing else, and it is connected to a computer.

Welcome to the Sony Community.

 

Can you please follow these steps below - 

  • Check that the micro-USB cable is connected to the headset and the computer firmly.
  • Check that the computer is turned on.
  • Check that the computer is not in standby, sleep or hibernation mode.
  • When using Windows 8.1, update using Windows Update.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue.  I bought the headphones at Aberdeen Airport a couple of months ago, charged and tested them, put them back in the box and only now am trying to use them.

The battery lasted about 10 mins today, now I am trying to charge, the red light comes on for about a minute, but then goes off.

I have tried to reinitiate as per a previous post (hold 'power' and 'NC/Ambient' button in simultaneously for 7+ seconds) but this has made no difference.

The charge cable is plugged into my laptop, which is in use constantly.  The cable is firmly attached at both ends.

Please could you advise what I can try next ?

I also get the same charging issue when charging via AC, with the cable supplied.
