Does Noise cancelling work with aircraft entertainment systems

Does noise cancelling work when you plug into airplane entertainment system to watch a film? I heard reports that as soon as you plug it in the notice cancelling stops and it's just like normal headphones. Surely that defeats the purpose.

Works just fine.

Recently flew van Amsterdam to Denpasar. Did view some movies and noise cancelling was working perfect.
