Is there anyway to 'break' the Sony WF-100mx3's lights?

Hey there!

This is a bit of unusual post but basically I bought some WF-100mx3 off Ebay for not so cheap, they are in pristine condition but I am pretty sure they have a fault.

The feature that turns them off when they are taken out of ears is broken and they are never properly detected as being inside. This is not too much of a problem because you can disable that feature so they don't turn off every 5 minutes, HOWEVER, doing so doesn't stop a beautiful flashing blue light from being turned on.

You see where I'm getting?

They work fine, but when they are in my ears, a blue flashing light is constantly on which makes me look something like Lobot from Star Wars and I'm not too much of a fan of it.

I have tried factory resetting, full reset, all the options customer service told me to do, they are up to date etc....

Now, I have no idea whether or not they are still in warranty and Sony's warranty policy is terrible compared to Bose. Hell, my Bose headphones wouldn't turn, in 10mins, I had a UPS thing setup to pick them up and within 10days I had received a new pair! No questions asked! The charge to fix them is higher than the price I paid for them and I feel like I am signing a contract with hidden text telling me they are allowed to take my kidneys.

So the only option I can see is to stop the light from blinking, and the only option I can see is to break the lights ahahah. Surely this can be done somehow?

Cheers

That's very interesting, but I don't think you can stop them blinking without disassembling them, which IMO is too risky. Have you tried covering them with a piece of dark tape?
