Not connecting with app on iphone

Hello i have the sony mdr1000x bluetooth headphones and i have been using them just by the bluetooth settings on my iphone 6s running the latest version of ios11 and i wanted to connect the headphones to the app so i could change the settings and have a mess around with them to suit my style of listening, i downloaded the app of the sony website, i turned the headphones on and tried connecting them through 'connect to the paired headphone'  on the app and it came up with an accessory pop up that said 'select an accessory' so i waited for it to pop up but it didnt pop up, bearing in mind there is another option to 'connect to the new headphone'. so if anyone can help me find a way to connect the headphones to my phone app it will be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Max

Hi @MaxValentine12,

according to the Google Play-Store page for the app, the MDR-1000X headphones are not supported, I am sure the same is the case for the iOS version of the app.

The following models are listed:

WH-1000XM2

WI-1000X

WF-1000X

MDR-XB950N1

MDR-XB950B1

WH-H900N

WH-H800

WI-H700

Hi @MaxValentine12,

have you tried to get your headphones back into pairing mode?

Also have you checked if your headphones are compatible with the app?

AFAIK the headphones which work are the 2017 models WF-1000X, WI-1000X and WH-1000X2.

It though could be, that more headphones are compatible including your WH-1000X.

Hi @MaxValentine12,

I don't know the exact reason why your headphone model is not supported.

Yet I wouldn't bet on any update to make them compatible.

I have the same and frustrated as this is not that old model. Also more premium than other models that are supported. Hopefully there's going to be some software update to enable MDR-1000X.

Mdr 1000x is missing the required chip that's needed for the app to work. Therefore, it will never work. I've upgraded from 1000x to xm3 and the app is good, but the headphones itself is better
