I've used my new Sony A10 a grand total of three times: once via the external microphone input and twice plugging the retractable USB directly into a soundboard. I feared that the latter would be the weak point of the unit as soon as I examined it, and sure enough tonight I've tried to re-extend the USB to retrieve the latest recording and it won't move.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Do you have any suggested fixes? I wondered if it was possible to open the unit up, but I don't see any screws and I'm loathe to snap it open.
I'm hoping to use the same unit for a recording tomorrow night, so would really appreciate a quick response! Is there a customer service email I should be using?
Cheers,
Jack.
Hi Jack,
Welcome to the community.
I'm just going to try to find some answers for you. In the meantime, if you need to contact Sony Support, you can do so here.
Thanks,
Pascale
Thanks Pascale! Apologies for the belated reply, I've been on the road and away from an internet connection for the last few days. A quick update from my side: I managed to pry out the USB connector, so it's now stuck in the extended rather than retracted form; the mechanism that should retract it is still non-functional, but at least the device is useable now.
Let me know what you find out, and thanks for the support link.
Jack.
Hi JackWhelpton,
I'm sorry, I am unable to identify the issue from the description provided. Is it possible to upload a photo showing the issue?
