It sounds like an in-built protection cutting in. To be honest, it could be a whole heap of things. Did you install it yourself, or have it professionally installed. If professionally, seek their advice, as it may be a power/ground connection issue.
Also, You didnt mention what speakers connected. It may be that they are not up to the job, or you have a connection issue.
