Sony NW-A45. Music/Folder Grouped list.

Hi folks,

Any help will be appreciated.
Purchased a Sony NW-A45 to replace an ageing iPod 5th Gen Touch.
My Question:

If I have multiple albums by artists on the Sony it appears I have to swipe/scroll through all to get to the next artist. i.e. I have 15 albums by AC/DC and 15 by Black Sabbath. I have to swipe/scroll through all 15 individual AC/DC albums before arriving at the 15 Black Sabbath albums and so on down the list. On the iPod there would be a single entry for an artist/band which when tapped would then reveal the content listed for that entry. In this example 15 albums etc.

Is it at all possible to accomplish this with the NW-A45? Because this is probably my only issue with it in the short time I've owned it. It's very possible, being as I'm old and not ever so tech savvy, that I'm missing something very simple as it seems such an obvious and intuitive way for folders and files to be displayed. I don't use Sony Music Centre. I used to use iTunes to sync the iPod but that isn't capable of coping with my FLAC files so instead I have recently started to use Media Monkey. It's entirely possible I'm doing something wrong in MM and that's where my problem lies. I don't know but I very much hope that somebody here does and is able to help me out. A very 'first world problem' I know but it is a tad irritating having to scroll as it is now when used to a better option.

Thanks in advance.

I very much hope so because I am frustrated in the extreme with this.  It's annoying me so much I can't tell you!!

I've spent the last two days ensuring that all my albums/songs etc are sorted properly using mp3tag.  Then loading them into Sony Music Centre (SMC) for PC.  Then going through all those that SMC for whatever reason failed to group together and changing data so that every single album was catalogued properly and each album was grouped under the artists name etc.  Then told SMC to send to the NW-A45........................... What a complete and utter mess!!

What exactly does one have to do in order to look at the screen, press 'Artist' to see a list in alphabetical order of all the artists concerned.  Then press on one artist to see a list of all the albums attributed to said artist?  Surely that's what is supposed to happen?   Isn't it?

Also why are all of the FLAC files not showing as Hi Res?  What on earth does one have to do to make this thing work?!

This new Walkman is very much beginning to look like a complete waste of my hard earned!!  If you're getting the impression that I'm somewhat unimpressed you aren't wrong!  Somebody please help otherwise this thing is going to be returned.  I had such high hopes reading reviews!

Hi scoobydog75,

The problem might be related to the app you're using. Have you tried to use Music Center instead? You can download it using the following link for free: https://bit.ly/2xIrxMl. Let us know if it works.

"The problem might be related to the app you're using."................................

I suspect you're correct.

"Have you tried to use Music Center instead?".................................

Is that the same Sony Music Centre I alluded to in my post that you're replying to?

This bit:

"I've spent the last two days ensuring that all my albums/songs etc are sorted properly using mp3tag.  Then loading them into Sony Music Centre (SMC) for PC.  Then going through all those that SMC for whatever reason failed to group together and changing data so that every single album was catalogued properly and each album was grouped under the artists name etc.  Then told SMC to send to the NW-A45........................... "Let us know if it works"...................

It doesn't.

I've never had this problem but I don't use the app. I just highlight the music I want and copy and paste it into the music folder of the mp3 or SD card and it works fine

Cheers Eddie.  I'm now using MusicBee.  It's brilliant.
