Sony NW -A45 - problems transferring songs to an SD card

Sony NW -A45 - problems transferring songs to an SD card

Hi

Im on the verge of selling my one month old NW- A45 Walkman. I'm having no end of issues with it.

I'm using music centre to transfer files. Ive managed to transfer 16gb to the device- no problem

I also thought I was making progress transferring songs to a Sandisk 128gb Micro SD card, but suddenly after transferring about 10gb via the painfuly slow and unresponsive music centre software (Grrr), suddenly its just creating the artist folder but not actually transferring the media, (although Music centre takes jut as much time to complete this operation). So now I have around 6 artist foders with nothing in them!

I've tried using windoes exlorer to simply copy the SD card but again that seems to work ok for a while but then subsequent foders are empty.

To say I'm frustrated is putting it midly.

Can anyone please help me?

Hi DickyGreen,

Welcome to our community!

It could be an issue with the memory card rather than the Walkman itself. You can try to format the memory card in the Walkman by following the steps on this link: https://bit.ly/2JH1db7. It will also be helpful if there's a chance to test another memory card in the Walkman.

Check my topic above. Funny, I also had a 128 SanDisk card. The problem disappeared when I swtiched the card for a Sony 64GB.

I had the same issue and recently stumbled upon the answer which is just so rediculous.I found that using media go (the software sony discontinued) works just fine.I transfered all my music much faster than sony music centre and it even filled in missing artwork automatically so why sony dicontinued the only thing that seems to work properly relating to the walkman I will never know. You will have to download the software from a third party website but it works a brease.

Hope this helps.

Tom.

Music centre is rubbish.mine freezes so I don't use it anymore.i highlight the music I want on the computer and copy then on the left under SD card it says music so I put my cursor on that and paste. I am getting the odd album go to unknown folder which I delete one by one but I'm trying to find a way to delete the songs in one go. Any idea how to do it

Has anyone found a software fix for this problem?

Why is Music Center so laggy in terms of file transfer? It's pointless having an SD card slot in the Walkman if file transfer is slow. iTunes is way faster (albeit to dedicated storage in the iPod) and there's a reason for this which Sony seem to have ignored for their own hardware.I really don't want to wait hours for my music to transfer.

Hi, Depends which micro sd cards are using, use original micro sd cards like Samsung sandisc don't use fake micro sd.

1 step format sd card on nw a45

2 step insert back again

3 step start transferring song

I have the same issue. Have tried different 128GB cards both of reputable make to no avail. 64GB works ok but I am now at the limit so thought I'd move up to a 128GB.

Like you I'm thinking of selling this useless device and stupidly have looked at the new Sony units but spec is vague on what size cards will work so am looking at other makes now.

I have never been a fan of Sony audio, TV's are great but anything else just doesn't compete really, I only bought this out of desperation as I needed a quick fix to my having lost my Apple ipod and didn't want the new style Apples.

This model is arguably 'obsolete' so there is no way Sony will action a 'fix', suggest we move on and find another manufacturer e.g. Cowon or spend money on Astell & Kern??
