WF-1000XM3 do not pair with MacOS Catalina

Hi all,

on my MacBook Pro with OS Catalina the BT is not finding the WF-1000XM3.

Anyone have a hint to make it pair?

I have also a pair WH-1000XM3 which works just fine.

Warmest regards

Hi lbennrup ,

Have you tried resetting the headphones: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wf1000xm3/v1/en/contents/TP0002289926.html ?

Unfortunately it did not help. The link provided do not lead to any support function as I can see, just a new window where I land on the home page.

It seems it is a flaw in Catalina so it is more of a development question which in my opinion should be handled internally.

I would appreciate information when to expect it to be resolved.

Best regards

I originally replied thinking it was WH-1000XM3 but can't delete my reply.

Ok, I have a pair of WH also and they work just fine. It's only the WF I have problem with.

I also tried my WF on an older Macbook Pro with El Capitan 10.11.6 and it does not work neither.

So my conclusion is that something in the protocol is omitted in the WF.

Hi again, it would feel really nice if you as a multibillion dollar corporation could talk to another multibillion dollar corporation, Apple, and figure out what must be done, if possible, to make the WF-1000XM3 communicate with Mac Book pro 13" a year and a half old, upgraded to MacOS Catalina. Or just simply state this in your marketing, that these cannot be used with a Macbook Pro with MacOs Catalina. Then I would have avoided buying this equipment.

It's not really my job as a consumer to work with your support organisations with extremely high latencies to sort this out.

I'm a bit frustrated that you just let this matter slip away and Apple is much worse. They don't even address the issue.

So, thank you for answer at least, let's hope you may find a solution and in the meantime I'll see if any other equipment can be useable or use my WH-1000XM3 even though the WF-1000XM3 is more suitable for the task.
Yours sincerely

Did some test and the WH-1000XM3 is connecting as they should with Catalina, so the problem seems to reside in WF-1000XM3.

Hi lbennrup ,

Is the software up to date? Sony has released a new update which should resolve some connectivity issues: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-1000xm3/downl...

Thank you for answer.

I made an update according to the instructions and my WF-1000XM3 software is now of version 2.1.0.

My MacBook Pro 13,3" runs MacOS Catalina of version 10.15.2.

I then tried to pair with my WF-1000XM3 again but they do not show up in the list of devices to pair with.

I have tried turn off BT and on again. I have also rebooted both devices.

I do not have any other BT units turned on.

To give some aid I fired up my ancient iPhone4 and the WF-1000XM3 do not pair with that neither.

So, I am afraid the problem persist. Something in the BT protocol differ from WF and WH.
