When I press the nc/ambient button the google assistant does not listen. If I have the app open on my phone I can see that it starts to listen but only for about half a second and then the mike stops listening. If I use google assistant just on the phone without the headphones it works fine. Only bought yesterday so tempted to take back. I have removed both apps from iPhone, restarted phone, reset headphones to factory settings, but still not working correctly. Any ideas before I take them back?
I think this is a software issue. I have the same issue with my headphones (also in this forum). someone in reddit mentioned they reset the headphones and reinstalled the apps and it helped them but it hasn't helped me.
I wouldn't take it back for this particular reason because I believe it will get fixed with a software update. I THINK. who knows.
Yeah, I have done all sorts with no luck. I have installed to an IPAD also and have the same issue. Google assistant works fine on either device when not using the headphones. I have logged it with Sony support so will see what they come back with. I noticed that even the initial testing of google assistant when you first complete the install and it allows you to try some commads that they also don’t work properly. I will update once I hear back from Sony.
Thanks - I’d be interested to hear what they say!
I have not had anything useful from Sony as yet. Yesterday I installed the 4.1.1 firmware which brought the ability to use Alexa. I have many other Alexa devices so tried Alexa which works fine. Today I am going to switch back to google assistant as do like the fact it reads any messages to you. I will advise how that goes.
Does Alexa play music that you ask for?
Very helpful for the update, thanks! Still annoying it's not even being addressed! It may be the way google assistant is working? there may be a few bugs between sony and google? who knows!
