I have tried a few times to make calls with these headphones and in every case, the person I am calling has complained about the quality of the sound. They can either not hear me at all, or complain that I sound very muffled or very quiet. I listened to a message that I left on my voicemail at home and it was just rubbish, completely incomprehensible. This is clearly a frequent issue with these headphones and not one I would have expected given the cost - how do you suggest I resolve this? If it persists I'll be going back to Bose.

Did this start only recently? If yes, I'd suggest that you reset the headset as explained here: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm3/v1/en/contents/TP0001703081.html
If the problem remains, let us know the make and model of your phone so we can chcek feedbacks from other users.
