XAV-601BT not working on iphone

i buy this sony xav 601bt car stero hoping it was going to work with my iphone but is not

the say the software will update but i dont know when any body can help

Hi and welcome to the forum.

First of all, what iPhone version is it? Checking the compaitiblity all apart from the iPhone 5 are listed. You can have a look on the link below.

If you do have the iPhone 5, they are still new to the market so may function slightly differently compared to the older models so it does take manufacturers time to develop updates. They need to be tested properly before people can use them to ensure everything works as it should and no faults so I wouldn't say it would be something that anyone would like to rush.

I would recommend checking on the link below for firmware updates from time to time.

I have spoken to Sony about this over the last 9 months but it looks like they are happy to sell expensive good quality items but are not so happy to keep these up to date! For a £300 device you may as well purchased a standard CD player with Bluetooth as the Mirror Link Tech is moving SOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW it is unreal! This does make you wonder what they are doing at Sony! The other worrying thing is that they have only 4 major touch screen handsets that are able to make use of this software at the moment and 2 are not even Sony devices!  The crazy thing is Sony think we are still stuck in the 90’s and have added a list of old Nokia devices! COME ON! What’s the point in that?!?! Even more worrying is that they haven’t even attempted IPhones on Mirror link! All of this and with the FACT that they haven’t made a new update for at least 5MONTHS now!!!! If you have purchased one RETURN  IT!! I would be happy as Larry if the updates where regular and there was a chance that the IPhone will be added but this is unbelievable for a device that is not really classed as cheep.

COME ON SONY, SORT IT OUT PLEASE!!!!!!!

Great comment, but it was back in Sep 2013. It's nearly 2016 and still no firmware update. I just watched a video reviewing the XAV-601BT and noticed the Pandora app on the home screen. Pandora doesn't appear on my unit, so I thought there might be an update. No so luck, SONY are either having major problems with with "mirror link" which must have been a great idea at the time or they have forgotten all about it. Shame really, as it's a nice box.
