Well well well..... Got in touch with my carrier (Rogers in Canada) and they say that they will get it when sony releases it to them & there talking sometime next year :smileysad:.
Rogers wirerless says that they are the last to know what sony is going to do in regards to the 2.1 update.

I am with Rogers as well and I heard the end of November beginning of December.
Got an unlocked Rogers phone hooked up with Bell. Wondering what I can expect.
This should be interesting. Anyone have an ideas concerning?
I had read a rumor on mobilesyrup that it was to be released "the week of november 8" but i don't know how credible that is. Also, the @SonyEricssonCA twitter account has said that they can't give a specific date but that it's "coming very soon". Hopefully the rumors will turn out to be true and we'll see the update on Rogers sometime this week.
I contacted Rogers this evening through their chat.
Here is my log:

So from what I'm getting from Rogers, the delay is now - yet again - do to Sony Ericsson....
I feel like the proverbial monkey in the middle.
Sony has a delay in the update lasting several months. Releases the update finally to all Providers. Rogers Delays the update to make their changes. Now its back in the hands of Sony and there is yet another delay to get this rolled out.
I have been quite understanding and defending both Rogers and Sony Ericsson in all the forums I've joined recently, but now I feel like I've been let down. This is the third Sony Ericsson phone I've purchase. My last one died after 2 years (buttons stopped functioning) which required me to upgrade because I still had another year on my Rogers contract. While looking for a phone - I was originally going to go with either a Blackberry Torch or an HTC branded android phone. A close friend of mine recomended that I purchase the X10 because "it was the best Android phone available" - although he had a windows mobile phone (I hate windows period so yeah.. Android or BB for me). I liked the look of the X10 and the Rogers people promoted it and convinced me that I would love it - especially once the update was released. Well I wasn't too thrilled with it when I first started using it. I don't do Facebook or twitter - those features are useless to me. I like how well it integrates with my office. However, it works well as a business phone - except the battery life is horrendous even with wireless and GPS disabled. I've never had a cell phone where I have to constantly have it plugged in to my computer to keep it charged for fear it will die at the most worst opportune time. They claim standby time on the scale of days. My phone averages only about 8 - 10 hours on standby. I have my screen lock set to 15 seconds. Lowest brightness.
I have - as I stated above - been posting on various forums that Sony Ericsson and Rogers have been doing everything to put this forward as fast as possible. I have been defending both company's stating that there has to be reasons. But now I'm lost. I can't defend either company anymore. I'm past the 30 days to return the phone through Rogers. I'm stuck. I am back on another 3 year contract and I'm stuck with this phone for that duration.I feel like I've been led astray by both companies! How is it that Sony Ericsson can release the generic update globally with so much ease, but when it comes to the North American market are having so much trouble? What the hell did Rogers do to their upgrade kit to cause it to break the servers at Sony Ericsson so that it caused further delays?
I'm just tired of the bull. I just want straight answers, like all of us here on the forums. As consumers, I think we deserve that much. You don't have to tell us the nitty gritty or the technical stuff that most of us will just blink and not understand anyway's. But we need something.. concrete. We need closure to this whole ordeal. We need to know that Sony and Rogers are there to look after their customers, and will take certain steps to ensure that something like this won't happen again to this degree (or worse).

@Carlo_Piva - I too am disappointed with my whole experience with my Xperia X10a and Rogers.
When I bought it from Rogers in June, I was told that the phone would be upgraded to the current Android version 'very soon', and that then it would be in the running with other Android phones. Since I had previously owned a decent little Sony Ericsson phone, I thought I'd try another.
Never again.
As upset as I am with Sony Ericsson over being stuck with a substandard phone for the next few years, I'm almost equally upset with Rogers. I feel completely mislead, and the clincher for me was this: The "Write A Review" feature has been disabled on Rogers' site for I don't know how long now, so I wrote a review in their community forums as a warning to others who were thinking of buying the phone without researching it. It was removed, with the following note (my post at the bottom):
Thanks for participating in our community forums.

(my post)
If you are considering purchasing a Droid phone, please please think long and hard before grabbing an Xperia X10. I am terribly disappointed in the whole experience I've had, and I regret not reading up on it a bit before I committed myself to it. If I could return it, I would.
I bought the phone because it was a Sony Ericsson, and my last phone was an SE. What could go wrong?
From the moment I purchased it, the software on this 'state of the art' phone was out-dated, and I'm still waiting around for the upgrade to be released to bring it up to date with what other android phones had earlier this year. Of course, the other phones are moving on again while we're just catching up.
While it has the hardware capability of multi-touch, SE has stated they have no intention of incorporating it. The 8MP camera is slow, and the results unspectacular... it will supposedly improve in speed and allow use of the flash with the upgrade.
The battery life is only bearable if you install programs to kill the processes that continually start up and run it down. For the first week I had it, while I was learning what settings and apps I needed to use to prolong battery life, it would be dead before the end of the day, in standby.
And don't get me started about the programs that come installed on the phone that you can't get rid of without performing a lot of potentially warranty-nullifying tricks. These programs don't sit there quietly unused and collecting dust. They randomly start up and use up badly needed resources.
It's slow and I often have to repeat gestures and taps to get it to do anything for me. I thought at first it was just me, until I had a friend let me try his Motorola, and my son his iPhone. It just doesn't work as smoothly as either of those phones (not that the iPhone is running android, I realize).
And good luck figuring out the basics like how to use an MP3 as a ringtone... functionality that was basic on any other phones I've had now requires jumping through hoops. Their website is about as useful as the documentation that comes with the phone. Thank heavens for Google.
Anyway, I'm just hoping I can save even one person from the disappointment I've had with this choice.

Hardly inflammatory, nor offensive, and provides the best 'technical solution' there is to any Xperia X10 issue... don't buy one.
