if i scroll with my full finger, it won't register, nothing happen.

i have to minimize the finger contact area in order to scroll, touch icons, buttons, links...

before 251, scroll with my full finger is working.

I just bought the Xperia Z4 tablet a few weeks ago, and upgraded to 251 last week.

I have noticed a significant decrease in the touch screen's response - it is very frustrating to use. Has anyone tried to do a backup and restore to wipe the tablet and start over? I am considering trying that tonight.

Although I've not noticed any problems in my actual usage of the Z4, on testing the Touchscreen in Diagnostics Some of the time the screen is not recognising 2 simultaneous finger presses. I think Sony have made a mistake with this update. If you have apps that require multifinger usage of the touchscreen, it looks like you should not upgrade to .251

.251 upgrade has killed my touchscreen response.

I tried a factory reset, but its no better.

Sony... Any updates?

Sony... when will you go fix it up?

I had to do a clean install of .251 to get my Z4 working properly again. That worked for me. I used the PC Companion to perform a repair. It downloads/uses the latest version. My Mac Companion doesn't work for repairs at the moment. Like the PC version, it can't curently connect to the server.

I believe there is a newer .253 version on the way.

Hi,

.251 update is a mess and makes the device unusable. Dear Sony, could you fix as soon as possible.

Luckily there is a possibility to downgrade via flashtool/xperifirm. The newest version makes the process very easy: You just need to choose the firmware version for your device and the tool makes most of the steps automatically, downloading, unpacking, creating ftf file.

Then just flash and it's done, haven't lost any data in the process and all the settings remained the same.

At least these forums provide some solutions, when the producer is not helpful.

Same problem here, just bought the z4 tablet LTE.

As soon as the Z4 is not handled firmly with 2 hands, touch screen is unstable and not usable at all :

- if thumbs are used 'flat' not detection, or with many failures/missed.

- if typing rapidly with virtual keyboard, many losses, horrible !

This typically happen when I use the official sony Z4 cover (SCR32) and the tablet is not handled firmly with my 2 hands (stand position).

Before the update it was the 28.0.A.7.24, but I have updated it immediatly so I don't have the luck to have tested it with its previous firmware.

Until sony fix this horrible issue, how can I download 28.0.A.7.24 and flast it to the Z4 ?

Are the firmware country locked ? (ie do I need to find one for France)

Thanks.

Hi,

1. Download flashtool/xperifirm here http://www.flashtool.net/downloads_windows.php

2. Install(confirm driver installation, this can be a problem with windows 8.1 as I heard) and apply patch(just replace the file x10flasher.jar with new version)

3. Run the tool and click XF icon on far right position on the icon bar. Xperifirm will open.

4. Scroll down, find Xperia Z4 Tablet , choose correct version (LTE=SGP771, WIFI only=SGP712)

5. For France without operator branding, choose 1295-4742 France, Customized FR. If you bought the tablet from Orange , choose  1296-2777.

6. In the right tab click software version you want to download (28.0.A.7.24 / R10A). Click download

7. Xperifirm will download the firmware, unpack it and bundle it into ftf file ready to flash. Confirm bundle creation if needed. FTF file will be stored in <userdir>\.flashTool\firmwares\

8. Return to flastool click lightning icon on the left and choose flashmode

9. Choose firmware you've downloaded

10. When next prompt appears, make sure the tablet is switched off. Hold volume down button and connect USB cable to the computer and the tablet. Flash will start. Disconnect the cable when process finishes and start the tablet.

Good luck

Thanks Darklord for your reply, downgrade ok.

I have tried again without the official sony screen protector (PRT13) seems ok in 251 too, but as soon as I put back the PRT13 creen protector i get the touch issues: missed keys while typing, etc...

Do you think 251 make it worse ?

I should try downgrading again with PRT13 on...

(i use the screen protector as it seems the screen is not gorilla glass...)
