android 2.1 update for sony ericsson xperia x10

Everyone said that the update is coming by the end of October.... It is the end of October now..... What i am saying is its really hard to believe that even people linked with sony ericsson dont know more specific details than this..... I do understand that it will depend from market to market  when each and every person receives it..... But most of us would be happy if we knew the date this long process will start.... I know that most people dont want to give a date with the fear of not being able to deliver on that date.... But i am sure sony ericsson has planned date by now.... a date that they are planning to release it if everything goes to plan....

Please can someone tell me that date.... Coz right now i spend more time here trying to find out if its launched or not.....:smileysad: i get up every morning thinking yeay it might be today to have my hopes crushed..... I think 75% of the time these days when the update will come.... we are soo into this coz our hearts still beat for sony ericsson... thats why we are soo curious and wanna know when its coming..... so plz be a bit more specific and give us a bit more info than saying end of October.... will really appreciate it if u guys do that.....

Does X10 android 2.1 has print function?

Just a quick one, anyone else had an update on update to 2.1 for orange (uk) customers? Just had a text from them saying that the update will be coming in the next two weeks.

as far as I know orange have exclusivity for the x10 in the uk, surely they could be quicker than 'the next few weeks'!

I talked to an AT&T rep on Monday (Baltimore/Washington market). The rep indicated that they have NO PLANS for allowing the Android 2.1 upgrade to roll out to AT&T customers. So... If you have AT&T and the x10, how your phone is now is basically how it's going to be. No Android 2.1 upgrade for us.

And I renewed my contract to get this phone. Damn.

I'm baffled by this one because I have an unbranded phone which i am using on Orange - One of the main reasons I bought my own phone was that I didn't want all the bloatware and ads associated with branded releases.

The X10 is available on all the major networks in the UK, none of which have confirmed anything than 'soon' 'by the end of the month' 'in the next few weeks' etc.  So none the wiser really!

Do you still get service messages etc? Because as far as I know the updates only available ota, wonder if they'd send it out automatically to unbranded or you'd have to request it I guess

Orange don't have exclusivity to x 10 in uk , mine is on 3 uk . I had the day off work today and got fed up of waiting so did it the naughty way. There is a .apk on xda forums to root with one touch of a button.. I purchased root explorer from android market and changed to nordic firmware as mentioned onhere and xda forums. Ran pc companion bish bash bosh job done 2.1. Phone runs fine . It is a relativley painless process and took about fifteen mins to do everything

by the way I'mnot encouriaging you all to go out and potentially void your warrenty's or damage yourphone ,I am jusy saying I decided to take the risk and its worked fine

I was gonna ask if it invalidates the warranty. Think I'll just wait, knowing my luck the phone will explode or something midway through

as far as I know it only invalidates the warranty if the fault is as a result of the update / firmware change , If for example it was a physical fault it would still be covered . But  don't take my word as gospel.

I was on here earlier trawling through post and saw a few from people in the uk asking if the process works over here and on thier network e.t.c so I just wanted to letthem knoe it does.
