Another case of lost contacts

I just update my X10i to v2.1 firmware following all the instructions online including creating a backup. After completeing the update and restoring the backup I only have 3 contacts out of approximately 70 I previously had. The 3 contact I have are ones that have been created since owning the X10 all the ones I have lost are old contacts made on previous phones. I have never used any sync functions so do not have them stored anywhere else and do not have my old sim card so can't import them again. Have tried all the various suggestions I could find on the forums for importing from contact from SD or sim and still can't get my old contacts. Does anyone know if these are lost forever or what I can do to restore them?

When you set up your phone are you sure that it didn't automatically sync with Google?  The back up and restore app doesn't back up contacts that have been synced, so it may have done it automatically and then possbily you turned off the sync function without realising that it has been done.  Have a quick log on to your Google account online and see if there are any contacts there.

I don't know what else to suggest as you seem to have covered the other options I would have suggested.

Hi Suze, you were right I just checked my Googlemail account and it had synced the contacts there although I did recover the contacts in a different way. After trying everything I could think of I dug out my old K750i phone and by luck it still had my contacts stored on the phone memory, I thought I had deleted them but hadn't so just put my current sim card in my old phone and transfered them to that and then put it back in my X10 Slightly_smiling_Face

I'll rememebr in the future to sync the info on a regular basis so I have it stored in different places.
