seems a bit odd but my phone uses a lot of battery when i'm checking facebook, reading the first page of news updates and posting a status takes about 5% battery. i know setting the network mode to GSM only helps a lot but slows internet down and i hate waiting lol :smileymischief: , so i'm just wondering if there will any improvments to this in future updates? 5% battery for 5 mins on facebook isn't spectactuar.
Hi,
So this is actually an interesting question, and I'd like to see what you think of my comments
Next time, check out the battery life out 30 minutes later and see where it's at.
Here's the thing: Batter life is calculated based on the estimates around what you are currently doing. So when you are doing something "battery intensive" in phone (like 3G internet) it will show a lower percentage because it's going to estimate that higher usage and adjust accordingly.
So, overall, it's normal to see this fluctuation in battery life, but you are (barring other issues) getting normal battery life.
Regarding updates: Power optimization is something we strive for in each update and most users do seem to experience better battery life.
After reading your reply from my phone i then did as you suggested I closed my browser and turned off data transfer at this point the battery was on 49%.
I then left the phone for 30 minutes with the screen off then when i checked again it was on 48%, but from what i understand(from your reply) is that after i stopped the intensive use then my phone should of recalculated the % and in theory the % should of gone up?
From then till now (about an hour) i have made a phone call around 10 minutes and it’s now on 47% so it seems in normal use the battery life is just fine it still however seems odd to me that data transfer is so intensive on the battery.
