Bluetooth

Hi,

I've read that bluetooth for file transfer is not yet available under Android in the X10 Mini Pro.

But I have problems getting other bluetooth stuff to work as well. Two things I havce tried are

- Setting the phone up as a blue-tooth modem for my laptop - but Windows can't connect to my X10 after pairing

- Getting "stuff" transferred from my old phone (bookmarks, contacts, notes) - again the old phone can't connect to my X10 after pairing

Pairing goes fine. My X10 shows "Paired but not connected" and nothing works...

just press the "button" that says the name of the device (SSID) and "paired but not connected". That should connect it.

Yes, I guessed as much - but this is eaxctly what doesn't work. It just says "Unable to connect"

When I have paired with my Laptop, and then later press the "device" button to attempt connection it takes some seconds while the X10 attempts connection and then it says "Unable to connect at the moment"

When I have paired with my old SonyEricsson P1i, and then later press the "device" button to attempt connection it simply does nothing which I guess means that it attempts to connect and then immediately
fails before it even comes as far as writing "Connecting".

But thanks anyway.

Some people have had more joy with the 'Bluetooth File Transfer' app from android market rather than whats on the phone.  Its a freebie so give it a go.

Also have a look in the 'More Like This' box to the right of this screen, once a question is posted it picks similar threads and they quite often have hints and tips that will help you also.  Let us know how you get on, so that people can do the same to this thread when they have a similar problem!! Good luck.

Can that help me use the phone as a modem?

Anyway, what I read in another thread "blue tooth problems on x10 mini" is that we have two different problems here

1) Cant do file transfer via bluetooth. Well, SE acknowledges this problem and claim they are going to solve it with a later software update! This is not - so far - the problem I am talking about.

2) Can't even get the other bluetooth unit to connect, and the X10 just shows "Paired but not connected". This is MY problem.

My primary wich is to use my X10 as a bluetooth modem for my laptop - NOT to do file transfer (although that would be nice too)

Hi Hans

I think using the phone as a bluetooth modem is not possible without root. There was also talk about it being a 2.1 function so maybe you will have to wait for the next release of firmware if rooting is not your thing.

Try having a look on the XDA forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=614 as they are a bit more techy!

I still recommend giving the bluetooth file transfer programme a go because it makes connecting very much simpler. If you look at the large yellow asterisk on the discussions home page and click show more, SE state that the phone can do it with third party app from the market.

Tanks for the answer. Still missing one thing though...

What must I do in order to get my phone to connect and not just show "Paired but not connected". Pressing the "device" as before mentioned doesn't help;

it simply does not connect even though it tries to.
