Broken screen

My 3 months old Xperia Z1 compact got the screen broken while it was in my jeans pocket.

I have no idea how it happened.

There was no key or anything that could have put pressure on the screen.

I saw posts saying that it happens on other Xperia models and it could be due to overheat.

Could it be this? Does Sony cover this?
