Hi everyone,

Recently I've noticed that my camera button on the phone is not working.

It doesn't launch camera app and it doesn't take any pictures while in cam app, however I can focus with it.

I'm on 4.4.2 and it doesn't have too many outside apps installed, what I have tried so far:

1) Pressing the button hard,

2) Tried entering safe mode,

3) Tried to change settings inside cam app, quick launch particularly,

4) Cleared the app data/cache of *Camera*, *Camera common*,*Camera extension*,*Cameras*.

Nothing seems to work for me.

Please help Don't want to repair my phone via update service...plus there is never a guarantee it will help.

Have you considered it might be hardware issue?

It has two phases however,half press will focus and full press will shoot.

Actually I have this feeling..

I can't really re-call if I was using it from the start, I mean when I just bought the phone. (so I can't tell now if it wasn't working when it was just out-of-the-box )

As of now I haven't dropped it a single time, so it had not have any mechanical damage.

No water checks as well.

One time though I remember I got a little static discharge from the metallic frame around that area..

Ok, good news, I actually got it.

I have previously used Xperia Active and the experience on the Z1 compact is quite different in terms of this camera button.

So, as you said Alexdone, it has two phases.

First, you slightly press it down to focus, similar to trigger buttons on PlayStation/Xbox controllers.

Second, you have to press it down further and it goes down with a click, have to overcome that fear.

I’ve also done a factory reset, that could have helped as well..maybe
