common xperia u charging problem? how to fix?

Hello,

So i plugged in my xperia u to charge while it's still on, and charged the phone until it said the battery was at 100%.  Then i turned off my phone, but my phone never showed the Sony logo on shutdown, and went to black screen with the red LED light at the top corner.  I thought that was weird because normally at 100% charge it shows a green light.  I tried to turn on my phone, but it never turned, on.  I let it stay like that overnight and tried again in the morning to turn on the phone, but nothing happened. Then i took out the battery, put it back in and finally the handset restarted; however, the phone showed that the battery was at 25% life.  Why did the battery drain so fast? I'm curious, is this a charging issue or is something wrong with the battery?  I've only had the phone for less than 12 hours.   Thanks

It's hard to say but if this happens again I suggest that you try to reinstall the phone sotfware using SUS to make sure it's not software related.

If it doesn't help and it happens again you should have your phone examined and fixed, contact your local support for more info.

Even i am facing a similar problem but it doesnt shut off! when i connect my phone to the charger it usually takes around 1 to one and a half hour to charge completely but since the last few days even if i keep it plugged for and hour or two it doesnt charge more than 30 to 40 percent!

I have found that by using the usb socket on my car radio or computer to charge the phone will turn the phone off and then not power back on again. I have found that by using the house charger plug solves this problem.

My sony xperia U has ceased to work about 5 minutes ago, the issue begun around an hour ago when I tried to charge the phone, the phone didn't charge at all, I tried a factory reset, took off the battery, took out the sim card restarted the phone several times, I tried several power plugs, I am using my phone's original charger, tried to charge it with different power cable and yet NOTHING!!! I am terribly dissapointed of such a bad quality sony I expected better my phone is still in warranty, i have it since august, it is barely 4 months old please help me find a solution I am frustrated of having bought a supposedly excellent phone and it died! Your cell phones are not cheap, us customers expect better quality.

I think different voltage sources mess up the phone for most of you. Happened to me once when I tried to charge it on a train

so, ive been struggling with those exact same symptoms, the random charging icon w/o a charge, no charging when plugged, sometimes got power, sometimes no power....all of them...looked over foruns and such, tried factory reset and all...but i got it fixed, and this is how:

It seems xperia U charge plug bends little by little down each time u plug the charger, its really minimal, but eventually it starts to barelly connect with the charger when plugged, and some times just some of the tracks will make contact, spawning all sorts of behaviour.

I got a clock tool screw driver (the flat one), and just stuck it a little in between the charger hole bottom, and the charger piece with all the connectors that contacts the micro usb upper part.

worked like a charm, got the plug on it best condition! (its a very minimal bend upwards)

disclaimer: im not responsably for ur phone.

You need to make sure that the red LED is lit after connecting, but if you still have charging problems take the phone to a service.
