Grey Screen When Phone Is Charging

Is normal that during charging the screen lights up and appears to look grey? I have use the power button to turn of the screen. Happens once during charging evertime and randomly when being put to power safe mode at night.

Have you installed any app/wddget that locks the screen ?

I have this too.. no idea what causes it. Only happens every now and then.

Yes I have the app "Lock Screen" installed. If it's the cause are there any app that Sony recommends? I don't want to wear out the power button each time I need to press it lock the phone.

It's surely because of that.

Do not worry about the wear tear of power button. It's designed and engineered to be pressed about 100 times a day.

I don't recommend using any, or if you want you could try installing all the screen lock apps one by one and see if any of them didn't cause this grey screen.

Just to check what is the expected lifetime of the Xperia Z that Sony anticipated?

100 presses X 365 days X how many years?

The problem went away after update of software. I still have lock screen installed. Guess it was a software thing that Sony fixed.

The reason for the grey screen is you will notice it will turn grey around the 30% battery mark either falling below or rising above the 30%. (which is the low battery mode where it disables data etc when it hits the 30% mark) i turned this option off and it has never done it since. bit of a silly option really as you still need use of your phone reguardless of battery percentage. Hope this helps. 🙂
