How do I uninstall apps?

My X10 apps screen is cluttered with apps that I do not want.  The manual says to go into Settings/Applications/Manage applications; to select the application I want to get rid of; and to select "Uninstall".  I do not get this option.  Anywhere.  Not even on those apps that I installed from Market myself.  Can someone please advise how to delete RoadSync etc?  Thanks.

You can't uninstall apps that came pre-installed on the phone.  The only thing you can do with them is to move them to your last page of your app drawer so that you don't have to scroll through them each time.

Any apps installed from the market can be uninstalled from within the market app, just click on the My Downloads tab and then select the app you want to get rid of and you will be given an option to uninstall.

Thanks.  Not the answer I was hoping for and not the answer given in the manual.  Also not clear why I would want WisePilot and GoogleNavigation - one will certainly suffice.  I guess we will have to wait for Android V3 before we can clean up our home screen...

Try a Launcher app, like ADW.launcher, Launcher Pro,....

It will help you create folders/screens with Only your favourite/required apps.

Thanks for the pointer.  I might just do this.  Can't quite figure out how ADW.launcher works - does it replace the home panel, or does it become an icon on that panel and you always have to first click that icon before you get to the different apps drawers?

There will be no icon for ADW.

Steps to configure

- Hit the home button, there will be a prompt for "which app to use for default home button"

- Use ADW, select checkbox to make it default

- Long press on screen to add folders/widgets/shortcuts

- Drag drop icons to folders

- Use Menu>Edit to set default screen on mobile start; also to add/delete screens

- In the end you can lock Desktop, to avoid the icons being moved by mistake

Try it out, with a couple of attempts, it should be fairly easy to configure.

Once done, all is well :-):-)
