How do you clear browsing history on internet?

Anyone know how to clear the browsing history on the google widget and then on the internet browsing??

To clear google search history, you can go to Settings>Search>Clear search shortcuts. As for browser, you can try Settings>Applications>Browser>Clear cache. There are also apps for that in the Market.

Maybe it's because I have no Android experience, but:

I have been using Chrome to browse the net on my xperia tablet z.  There is a drop down "History" tab in the Chrome settings bar.  I have discovered that even after I select History / Clear Browsing Data, I can go back to all my browsed sites simply by hitting the back arrows either at the upper left or bottom middle of the screen.  Even if I close out of Chrome and go back to the Home screen of the tablet, when I re-open Chrome I can repeat this method of resurrecting all my browsing history.  Am I missing something?  Doesn't seem to work that way on my PCs. 

Also, does anyone know how to clear the metahistory?  On my PCs, I used Flash Player to delete all the browsing history that the regular Clear History does not actually clear.  I do not see how to do that on the xperia tablet z.
