Hi
Sadly I dropped my k800i yesterday although only from my pocket height. Everything seems to work but I cannot get any sound from the phone operations. I can get music etc but when I use as phone there is no dial tone and when I get through to another phone they can hear me but I cannot hear them. The phone does ring when I call it but again I can hear what is said from the mobile but not hear on the mobile what I am saying from the landline.
Is this a usual symptom when dropped and is it likely to be worthwhile trying to have it repaired - phone is about 3 years old and out of contract.
I have tried switching silent mode on and off in case I had done that in dropping but no diference.
Any advice much appreciated as I am very fond of this phone as a camera etc.
Regards
Mike
It would seem like something has maybe disconnected etc when the drop happened. I would contact a service centre and get them to repair it.
Hi KrazyD
Thank you for your suggestion.
You may well be right as I have now discovered that I can switch the speaker on during a phone call and it does relay the phone sound so I guess the "ear speaker" has become disconnected.
This might well make taking phone calls in public places rather annoying for other people. However, I am not sure that it will be worth trying to repair it rather than pick up a cheap second hand one on ebay or similar.
Do repair centres have a minimum repair charge? Might it be worth my trying to dismantle the phone myself?
Regards
Mike
I couldn't tell you how much the repair centres charge.
