if i get a txt/email while am making a call the phone stops playing my notification tune it will just vibrate but if i turn the phone off and back on again this solves the problem ????

I just tried to replicate that here on an Xperia P with no luck. Can you please go into Main men u> Settings > About Phone > Android Version - and tell me what version you are on?

am on 4.0.4

i bought the fone from argos and have exchanged it and its still happens ! if am on my fone chatting to someone and recieve a txt message or e/mail while am chatting it stops the notfication alert it just vibrates i get no sound

so you need to be chatting with some one get someone  else to txt you while your chatting then txt you again after the call has finished

Ok I have still been unable to replicate this on the same firmware version as yourself so in this case please run a repair:

To repair the phone software
1.     Install PC Companion on a Windows PC from Support
2.     In PC Companion, under Support Zone and click Start.
3.     Under Phone Software Update, click Start.
4.     Click repair phone.
5.     Follow the on-screen instructions.
