From what I know, backlight of the keyboard is linked to the ambient light sensor. That is, keyboard will illuminate and stay in a 'very dark' room (probably the light sensor is too sensitive and also one way to conserve battery life????). Only way I can think of is to slight the keyboard in and out again.
