Hi there,
I hope someone can help me on this.
For info, I originally bought a reconditioned M2. It was from a registered seller who sells many reconditioned phones as a business. All was ok but the music kept cutting out. It would stop, the widgets and player would show the track playing but just no sound, then it would resume after a while from where it stopped.
This was with and without headphones. I then thought it was a software issue, so instead of walkman I tried google music player, the same thing occurred. I then sent the phone back as I thought it must be a phone fault.
I then bought the phone Sim Free brand new from a high street retailer. I set up the phone and then used the music again - the same problem! music cutting out either on headphones or on loudspeaker.
Tried both google music and walkman apps.
I thought it may be my memory card, so went out at the weekend and purchased a new class 10 card and tried again, still have the problems.
For info, the phone is on android version 4.4.2
Walkman is up to date, version 8.4.A.5.4
I have googled to some extent but cannot find many people with the problem, so I'm a bit lost!
If anyone can help that would be great, as I have 14 days to return the phone if this cannot be resolved.
Many thanks in advance,
Have you tried playing your music from the internal memory and does the same happen - I've been playing music on my M2 for the last 45 minutes to test this from an SD card which is a Duracell 32GB Class 10 and have had no glitches at all so it could be albeit a shot in the dark the brand of SD card
Hi there!
Thank you for your reply.
I was originally using an old micro SD card (class 2!) which worked fine in an old blackberry etc then upgraded to the below:
The one I purchased was the below - do you know if there are any known problems with using certain cards? Or does something on the below jump out as being a problem?
Again thank you for your help so far,
PNYElite Performance Class 10 microSD Memory Card - 32 GB
Overview
Card Type: Micro SD
Capacity: 32 GB
Performance: elite performance
Speed class: Class 10
Read speed: 100mb/s
Write speed: 30mb/s
Also, with regard to your question about using the phone memory - unfortunately I cannot fit all of my music on the phone memory so have to use the micro sd card.
Many thanks
What does jump out is the name PNY as these are accosiated with fake cards - Download this program called H2testw and install and run a test of your card to see if it's a fake - if it is then this will account for your music doing what it it's doing
Hi again and thank you again for your reply.
I would hope that it is not a fake - i purchased it from Currys/PC World in store yesterday!
I am in the process of buying the card you suggest - is the below the correct one?
Many thanks
Another update,
Also have done as you suggested and copied a couple of albums over from memory card to phone memory. I have removed the memory card.
It happened again.
I have checked the two albums - one has M4A files, the other WMA files. It's so far stopped out on the WMA files.
Are there any known problems with WMA files on the Sony?
Sorry for all of my questions, trying to get to the bottom of it and running out of options!
I don't think WMA files are compatible due to copyright from Microsoft - Now the card you linked to I sell for less than £30 - For £30 you could buy a 64GB card from a trade supplier see here - I can vouch for that site and the owner
Thank you for your help on this!
Hi - just read this thread and wondered if you ever resolved issue? I have just had new M2 and am having same problem. Music stored internally but cuts out every few seconds. Being new to android phones etc i wondered if it was a settings / connections issue or am i better storing to card?
Many thanks.
I was experienceing same problem with A Kingston micro SDHC card so purcased a Sony micro SDHC card 16GB.
The music still sticks when played off the Card, and I am unsure how to solve this problem.
Files are in wma format
