Sony xperia z3 waterproof or water resistant

i dipped my new z3 in a bucket of water, the screen turned off after few seconds, and it kept vibrating for almost half an hour, and was dead since then, that was a 2 weeks old phone, and all i got to hear from the service centre and customer care staff is that its my fault that i dipped it in water and company will bear no damage as company just claims z3 to be waterproof device and dont own any responsibility.
though it was a new phone i dipped it intentionaly so i made it sure that all the side doors were closed firmly, still 1 of the customer care person said that they dont trust me, if side ports were open or closed.
never seen a worst response then this,
plus they mentioned that there is no way company gonna replace it, even if it is having any manufacturing defect

It is waterproof, but up to a specific depth only. Water resistant means it can take a specific amount of pressure (this is also up to a depth). This is as far as I know.

However, waterproof also means no water comes in the device, while water resistant means water can enter the device but it won't affect the inside (pressure limited).

The sony xperia Z3 has a IP68 certification which means its dust tight and waterproof*

The IP6X means no dust can get into the phone

The IPX8 means the phone is waterproof and can be submerged for 30 minutes in a fresh water and upto 1,5m of depth.

If you claim that all covers were closed then you should immediately contact sony and request for a vacuum test.  They HAVE TO replace it if they find a device fault.

Hi,

Is Xperia X3 water resistant? I'me reading lots of complains in Turkey and other websites thet shows water damages this phone very easly.

Also lots of complaints about technical support in case of water problem.

I expect some info about this issue from official technical responsibles of Sony and/or other users? I will decide to buy it or not.

Thanks

Sony Xperia officials promote z3 to be waterproof under 1.5mm drop under 30 mins but phone actually don't survive under water even if it is not even 1mm many user are complaining about this device that when they carry it to Sony service center they say phone is water resistant not water proof and don't fix the phone in gureantee saying ur is voided. Then why should one trust Sony brand if it has such poor customer support

Your statement its not accurate, the phone its waterproof, you can request a vacuum test, that will prove who is at fault.

Hello, I used my z3 to make an underwater shoot. It was only 30 cm depth and for few seconds. I make the Vaccuum test before and check the flaps.

But after the shoot the screen won't response and the phone heating up. After an reboot I have an black screen. At this time the phone is send to Sony for repair... When it is repaired I never took it again in water.... (sorry for my English)

@LarsM

The vacuum test can only be performed by your Local support, if you are referring to the service menu test, that won't work.
