Unable to plug any other brand's earphones in Xperia SL (LT 26ii) 3.5 mm jack

I tried to use sennheizer earphones with my xperia sl (LT26ii) but to my surprise the earphone plug won't go inside the jack no matter how much I try.

I tried a couple of other earphones which work well with HTC handsets but none of them could be inserted inside the 3.5 mm jack of Xperia SL.

Is it really a 3.5 mm jack beacuse except for the stock handsfree provided with the set I cannot use any other earphones.

Well, it is a standard 3,5mm audio jack so there shouldn't be any issues using other headphones. If you have the possibility, return to the store and try these 3rd party headphones on another Xperia SL to see if it's the same issue there. I have not heard of this issue before.

I have tried the sennheizer earphones with other handsets like HTC Desire V and it seems to fit well and is working well. But it does not even insert in my Xperia SL (LT26ii).

The stock handsfree provided by sony works well though.

You may not have heard about this issue as most of the users never try anything other than the stock handsfree but I am an audiophile.

I am an audiophile also and all my headphones work fine with the Xperia S and so do my portable amps. How is it possible that you can't even insert it?

Which model is your Sennheiser headphones?

I had the problem with the original headset that came in the box with my XS phone. Be sure that the standard of the headset is CTIA not OMTP

I had the same problem with my Beats By Dre Solo HD's. I think the problem is the way the outer shell of the phone is covering the 3.5 mm jack. My L-shaped cable didn't fully go inside the phone but my straight cable worked fine. This is to do with Sony's daft design.... Other than that, love Sony! :smileygrin:
