Unable to reset phone with Bridge for Mac (PIN issue)

So I have a Xperia C3 phone and I forgot the PIN password. I have been reading posts that to use PC companion or Bridge for Mac to reset the device. I downloaded the Bridge for MAC and followed the instructions for repair, I got to the part where it is asking me to connect the phone to the usb cable. The program checked for software updates and it is saying there is no available updates for the phone. I am unable to factory reset the phone, and I even tried holding the power button + volume up and the phone just vibrate 1 + 3 vibrates and do nothing... hope you guys can help me.

@Droc

The phone has to be off when you run PCC or Bridge

Here is an alternative, use MyXperia or Android Device Manager and reset the phone
