voicemail?

I have had the X10 for months and can't figure out how to set up my voicemail.  The voicemail number is in the phone but all the callers hear is that my voicemail has not been set up.  There isnothing that I can find that gives me any instruction on how to set up voicemail.  Can someone please help?

Settings are provided by your carrier.. to set it up:

open PHONE DIALER

long press #1

or..

go to SETTINGS

CALL SETTINGS

there you will see Voice Mail service and settings..

Also, I assume you have this activated by your provider

The service provider is AT&T.  When I go to call settings it lets me enter the voicemailbox number but there is no place to make sure that my incoming calls go to voicemail.  That is what I am trying to figure out

Have you tried this

To set up your voicemail box:

1. Press and hold 1 to call into the voicemail system from your wireless device.
2. Follow the prompts to create and enter a 4- to 15-digit voicemail password.
3. Record your name and personal greeting, then press the # key
4. After completing the setup process, press * to return to the Main menu.
