Hi Guys.
I have a problem: A Few Weeks ago, I wanted to make some Cool looking Underwater Pictures with my pretty new Xperia Z1 Phone. ( I had not done it before) It was Underwater for about 3 Times, Each time only about 6 Seconds. Maximum depth was about 50 cm. After that i heard some Musik with it. When i wanted to Use it later it did not work. I recogniced that there was Water vapor in the Camera. Now its almost 6 Weeks since i put it in a warm place to dry. I am actually not sure if it just has no Power left, But if i hang it onto Power, and there is still Water inside, will it not be totally broken?
I bought it in the Internet about Half a Year back. The Bill, which came with the Phone is dated 13.12.2013.
Sorry for my Bad Englisch, I posted a German Text but it somehow got deleted, (Dont know why its not allowed to wright German).
If someone knoes what to do i would appreciate that... 😕
Ps: Why does Sony mark the Phone as Waterproof it is not Waterproof?
Pps: I checked if the slots for sim and sd Card are closed BEFORE i put it into the Water...
Im gratefull for every Help
Peter
Hi!
Water can enter the phone when flaps are not firmly closed. If you are absolutely sure that they were closed contact Xperia Care and ask for your local service center in Germany. They will perform vacuum test of the phone body. If the phone will pass (means it is water resistant according to IP58) the flaps were open during or just after immersing it in water and they will charge you for the test and void the warranty. If the phone will fail the test it will be repaired according to the warranty card and local laws.
So do you think i should try to charge it? 😕
Because it would take a lot of time to send it to such a Service Center i guess..
And if Water came inside and they dont give me a new Phone or repair it, how much would it cost to repair it myself? Because there are a lot of Pictures and Stuff on it i want to keep...
Thanks Sergio
Some more Answers would be cool Guys!! ^^

I don't know. If something on the board is broken you can cause a lot of trouble. You can try but keep an eye on the phone. If it becomes hot or smell smoke disconnect it immediately and put far from flammable materials. Li-Ion batteries can be very dangerous when overcharged or short circuit.
First test you can do is open flaps and look for small stickers under them (one is near micro-usb port, second under micro-sim tray). If they are white there shouldn't be problems with water or at least you could try service center way. If they are red there is no point in sending the devices except if you are sure that flaps were closed. Then you can try vacuum test to verify that.
If motherboard is dead or you feel that it wouldn't be covered by warranty you can look around for specialised GSM spots in markets. Some of them can try to boot the phone and get your data from it.
Are you sure that all your stuff wasn't on micro-SD card? Maybe you don't have that much on the phone itself.
And if it's not charging I would avoid connecting it to the computer as it may burn USB port in computer.
Unfortunatetely all of the Stickers are red

But i am soooooo Sure that the Flaps were closed...
So i should send it to the Service Center and explaine the Problem?
How long would this take do ou think?
I am not gonna take the Risk af Damaging my Phone. This Vacuum Test they can make... Does this damage my Phone somehow? So i could send it to a Mobile Shop afterwards.
I dont have much on the Sd Card beacause it only has 2 gb
One thing im wondering about is, that i cant remember that ive ever seen the Stickers while they were White! Maybe i did not look, but couldnt it be, that the Person i bought it from already had trouble with the Phone?
Peter
Hi.
If all stickers are red you have only two choices. Accept that your warranty is lost and try to repair itself outside of Sony service (maybe even give it to companies that recover data - it may cost money, but if data are important... you can choose) or try if the flaps where really closed and send it to SC.
Depending of SC it may or may not harm your phone more (I would say they will) and charge you for the test if your phone passes it (means flaps were closed). But if they find that you are true and phone fails the test they may replace your unit.
Just call them and ask for the price of the test. It shouldn't be very high.
This video is in polish but if you forward it to 2:37 you will see how vacuum test is performed in PL service center.

Eish bud, that is myworste nightmare ever.i am not respectingsony for not wanting to repair a phone when it failed in water. They will not understand what it feels like if a £400 phone just die under water. every day i am getting less and less respect forsony :(:(
But what you expect? If you crash a car your manufacturer will also not repair it... at least for free... that's the same. Painful true, that's why phones should be much less expensive - it's to easy to destroy them. But it's our decision if we want to take that risk.
