Where is the new Cybershot Phone???

Having been a happy owner of a number of SE phones over the years I've always been impressed by the cameras. From my K810i to my C905 they've always had great features and hardware. However since the move to producing Android phones there hasn't really been anything with the performance to compare with either of these phones. I don't know what it is.

I've tried the Arc and whilst the pictures looked great on the phone there was a bit too much noise and blur when viewed on my laptop. I'm not saying I'm the next David Bailey but I still have holiday pictures that were taken with the K810i (3.2mp!) which were better and hold up to magnification. Maybe it's a system flaw with Android or just fear following the Satio issues (that took some great pictures but Symbian OS with a resistive touchscreen......) but surely the time is right for a new Cybershot phone. The Arc could have been this phone but has fallen slightly short but is an amazing design.

So please please please SE can we have a new Cybershot?

Potential requirements

  • 10/12mp (Doesn't matter which just needs good optics and sensor!)
  • Sliding Lens Cover. Always loved them.
  • Xenon flash. Make the phone a bit thicker I don't care.
  • Camera button
  • Proper camera controls

Hey Stu! I just joined to say I AGREE!!

Over the years I have had a k750i, a k810i and a c905.  Each respectively served me very well and I very much enjoyed the xenon flash and lens cover.

For me the c905 was the most amazing phone I've ever had.  I passed it on to my father and he still takes amazing shots with it day after day.

I have an HTC Desire now, I'm firmly converted to Android but the camera is lacking in a big way.  Sometimes I still wish I had my c905, there is no lie that with java apps & flashlite I could do most of the daily things I can do on my Android, just not as quickly or smoothly.

Anyway all I'm asking is for another dedicated Cybershot phone.

Don't care how many pixels, just a quality deep lens like the c905.

It looks like I'll be getting the HTC Sensation next, it has a pretty good camera but still nothing like the Cybershot range.

I have a w200i I use for back up Slightly_smiling_Face
