wifi connected, unable to access gmail and other apps.

After updating my phone to android 2.1,I'm unable to access my gmail and other apps thru. wifi. I have the wifi symbol at the top which clearly shows that the wifi is connected, but when I try to access  gmail, android market and other apps.,it gives me message stating "no network connection".Please give a solution.

Similar here: Sometimes, WLAN is up and running fine, after a while or when roaming between different 802.11g compliant AP or HSDPA/UMTS, the WLAN connections seems to be up - but there is no TCP/P traffic over this network link. Typical effect of the connectivity issue are also sync failures.

Attempted to keep WLAN up always (Wi-Fi settings -> Menu button -> Advanced  -> Wi-Fi sleep policy set to Never) - slightly better (except of the obvious battery drain!) - but experiencing more unexpected crashes (or nicely said automatic restarts) now.

Same before on 1.6 by the way - WLAN on the X10, X10 mini nor the mini pro is reliable for us here.

It's good to have 2.1 on the Xperia now - but it's still a long way to go to a competitive industry standard device.

Have you tried connecting without any encryption. I bet it works.

I have that issue on the X8 - the device will well connect to the router but simply no encrypted data will be transferred. Turning encryption off "solves" the problem. Why that is the case? No clue!

My wifi connection frequently fails. I've noticed it usually happens after I've downloaded an app from Android Market. I read on a different topic that changing the encryptation from WPA to WEP often helps. I don't see where this can be changed, though. Do I need to eliminate the connection I already have and set up a new one? I know I was asked what type of encryptation I wanted to use when I set up the service originally, but now under Advanced wifi settings, I don't see anything about encryptation.
