Yesterday I downloaded the update OTA to my phone, and when I tried to install it, the phone just restarted, and said that it could not update the software. I attempted to try different methods of updating, but none of them have worked.
- Install OTA, battery level 100% and plugged in.
- Tried 3x more
- Attempted to install via computer (Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Sony Bridge for Mac), but it would not recognize my device, and the newest version of the software will not work with my computer.
- Called Sony support, and they were unable to help either, and stated the conditions I was trying to do the update from were 'unstable'.

Is there any way to apply this update? The failed update notification is stuck in my notifications bar now, and it is quite annoying...
it'll be wise to redownload Bridge > restart your computer > try again
if you try OTA, do you have at least 1.3GB free (internal storage) on your phone?
I have tried reinstalling and restarting the computer, and neither has worked. I even tried using a different computer, and it didn't download the update...
I have 12GB free on the phone, and another 7GB on an external card free, so that's definitely not the issue.
Could you borrow another computer either PC or Mac?

I have tried on both my Mac and my PC (Windows 7) at work, and neither have worked. On the Windows 7 machine, it recognizes the device, but says it has failed to connect to the server to check for updates.

I've seen issues like that before, it could be a temporary server issue.
Thanks, I'll try that and see how it goes!
Customer Service just said to wait 24 hours and try again... 😕
