Xperia Z Ultra Touch Screen issue

The screen goes crazy when my fingertips are sweaty. The screen gets repeated touches even though i have removed my finger. The screen registers false touches and phone becomes unusable. Then i have turn screen off and wipe the screen to remove the effect. This is frequent. Secondly, phone cannot be used in rains as water droplets cause touches on the phone. I want to ask Sony whats the use of waterproof phone when it can't handle moistness or just small water droplets.

The idea of a water proof phone is that you can take your phone out in a rainy day, or not to worry about getting it wet or dropping it in water

as long as the screen have liquid, it'll not perform properly. Angry_Face

Unfortunately this is down to how the capacitive touch screen works; it will sense anything that is conductive such as water so it will register touches if it gets wet.

As your own ad states, "The high IP55 & IP58 rating means it’s waterproof* and dust resistant, so feel free to use it in the rain and bring it to the pool." This is actually untrue. The phone ceases to operate correctly when wet. Buttons all over the place start getting pressed rendering the device unusable. Good luck with taking pictures underwater.

I am actually unable to use the phone as a book reader in the spa. My daughter splashes some water onto the back of the phone and it starts playing up. There is no water on the front, as i can see the whole screen since i am using Play Books. Water-drops on the back of the device also render it unusable. It has been falsely advertised as a phone that works in water, instead of just commenting that the phone will not 'break' if IP55 & IP58 conditions are adhered too.

I have the same problem even if the screen is not wet. To fix it, ill press the power button to turn it off and on again. Easy fix but irritating. Pls fix this. Did not experience this w xperia z.

I also have this problem with both Z Ultra and the Tablet Z. Quite irritating. Occansionally when I use any of the two, the device can start to "press a button" of its own and it´s not just once, it can go on for more than ten seconds opening different apps and choose to do random functions.

Certainly irritating when this happens when I am playing Clash of Clans too. Without any interaction from me the phone launches an attack and starts dropping different units at random points on the enemy base. I am unable to immediately close the app because any time I try to press a button the phone starts pressing other buttons so my depresses don't register. Lol. That has happened twice and I also wasn't in the water, but I think a drop of sweat or moisture from touching a water bottle may have come off my fingertip.

If as Sam from Xperia Support alleges it is due to the nature of the capacitive touch screen, then this should happen on many other phones.
