Z5 Compact Wifi Tethering

Have had brand new phone purchased through retail store for 1 week and WIFI tethering does not work.  Other devices can connect to the phone but cannot get access to internet.  I have the latest updates and no other issues have popped up yet (have not tried usb tethering yet).  I am running stock software.

Does your carrier/network allow you to tether your data?

Yes in Australia we dont have those sort of restrictions, and I was doing it with my old phone Galaxy s4 up until the day i dot this phone. (same carrier and same plan)

Yes, and the phone can connect to other wifi and use internet via that.

No, not other wifi networks. I mean via mobile data.

Welcome to the community. 

If the WiFi hotspot is turning on, other devices are able to connect but not able to access the internet the most likely cause of the issue will be the the Access Point Names for mobile data services.

If you go to Settings > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.

Take a look at the entry for Internet, does the smaller subtext below that say internet or wap?

There is one APN listed (that is active) APN name is Vodafone Live! the subtext says live.vodafone.com

That is probably what is going wrong.

You can install the correct Access Point Names through the handset itself by going to Settings > More... > Internet Settings. 

If the issues persist I would recomend contacting your network as they will be better placed to help.
