Z5 Premium 4k Resolution - huge icons etc.

So far I'm very happy with my Z5 Premium 

BUT

why can't Sony provide a SW where you make use of the higher resolution and big screen.

The icons etc just get bigger - everything is blown up - and that's it. What a shame and very annoying.

Basically its a Z5 with a magnifying glas.

If you look at other smartphones (ie iphone 6 vs. 6 plus, S6 edge vs edge+) you get more icons on the home screens, you see more mails in the inbox etc.

Hope they do something here with a future SW update.

You can use a third party home launcher and other apps to customize your phone as you please.

True... But at this price it should come out of the box. Stock apps such as calender or mail for example cant be changed

Long press a blank space on your home screen to bring up the wallpaper and theme and home settings menu at the bottom and select home settings and change the icon size from large to small.

That used to be the case back with feature phones (dumb phones) but now with smartphones you have myriad options, as far as the other apps, you can use the Gmail app with non-google accounts, also

settings > apps > select the app > disable > download another app that you prefer to use google calendar its quite good.

Thanks for the hint but the problem is that the icons become smaller but the gap between them bigger => not more icons to be placed
