Why sony gives us incomplete updates of new Android everytime. All major features of Android 9 not included in update. After updating to 9 I only feels like i changed the theme,. Nothing exciting in there. Do you guys agree with me.
+1 missing the night filter since I bought the device. It's not in 9 update so I guess I will have to wait one more year...
yes I'm agree
Everytime they will just say to do a fresh install of the software on ur phone . That's all .
Thanks for the update. Yes, even for Nougat, and also for Oreo, there was a hack to get it working using separately provided apk by developer community - there is a link posted in this forum (Night mode enable after Mar 2018 security update - you have to dig down to get it).
I tried it on my XZP 8142 while it was on Oreo and it worked ok. Then upgraded to Pie, and it does not work anymore - the apk needs to be rebuilt.
Yes there is a Night mode option setting in Developer options with 3 settings but I too, did not notice any change in screen tint either with on/off with any of the settings.
Also "Do Not Disturb" - mode functionality is reduced, "Total Silence" mode is gone.
Increasingly Sony is resorting to handing out less and less features - their mobile unit sales keep dropping quarter after quarter - no wonder.
I also happen to have a Nokia 8 Sirocco and an ASUS Zenfone M1 the former running Oreo 8.1 and the latter running Nougat 7.0 and both have Double tap to wake, Night Mode, Do Not Disturb, etc.
The features which used to differentiate Sony as "Sony" are fast disappearing...
@Unregistered user;
The functionality of the DND mode is the same, only in a different format.
For total silence function of DND go to settings >Sound >Do not disturb >Sound and vibration >Disable the toggles under alarms and multimedia.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yes agree, but that applies for ALL the individual scheduler profiles created "under" it.
Earlier, in Oreo, I could have (let's say) two separate profiles:
i. Weekend - (Lets say - I want calls from only my starred contacts) - "Priority Only" is the setting
ii. Night - (Lets say - I want no sound/no calls from anyone) - "Total Silence" is the setting
The above could co-exist side by side, because, the sound settings were not created as a "super-set" applicable to all profiles under it.
This problem is already reported in the discussion thread below:

How do I achieve the same functionality in Pie? I doubt if it is possible.
We need more updates like addition of gestures, improvement in image quality,, double tap wakeup and sleep option.
