Hey there guys. I have been a Sony user since the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, had almost all their flagships every year, but with the introduction of the Xperia Z in 2013, Sony slowly started to lose ground in the camera department, compared to the likes of Samsung, HTC, LG or Apple. I also had flagship from these brands, and even if I always missed Sony's design language, quality and software suite, i must admit that throughout the years, Samsung and Apple consistently delivered better phones in the camera department.
But here comes 2018, and the new Sony flagship lineup, the XZ2 / XZ2 compact and the newly released XZ2 Premium are out. By this time, i reviewed cameras from almost all major players on the market, and comparing them to Sony, i can finally say that this time, Sony really did an outstanding job! I don't want to bore you with too much so I'll leave you some youtube videos to see, where i explain why is Sony stepping up in 2018, even if still there are many people that don't trust or don't like what Sony smartphone cameras can produce.
... and many more!
During my time with the XZ2 I've realized that -finally- Sony delivers a great camera. Gone are the days of aquarell-effects and edge-blur.
I love the natural color reproduction and the dedicated camera shutter key.
Where the XZ2 lacks is the low-light performance.
The S9+ has a second zoom lens which I really like and good low-light performance but the colors are often off or too saturated and I missed the dedicated camera key, therefore I've returned it in favor of the XZ2.
One thing I really have to complain about is that Sony has "forgotten" the headphone jack, that's the only real downside of this phone.
Yes, the lack of headphone jack and the glass back are downsides for me... but i can live with them
