Can we swap the back and recent app on screen buttons?
Unfortunately no you cannot on stock software.
@Locker there's an app called Custom Navigation Bar (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner) that allows you to do that, but it requires setting up adb on your PC first. you can just Google for an adb tutorial for the instructions.
